Unlike many everyday Sencha teas, the leaves of Morimoto’s Fancy Sencha are relatively fine.
The marvelous green tea excites with its sweet, fragrant character and its fruity, velvety aroma.
As much as the fine leaves give this Fancy Sencha freshness and depth, the few leaf stalks mellow those taste notes a little with their softness and turn the brewed tea into a well-balanced drink.
One of Morimoto’s features is to prune most of the tea plants right back after harvest.
This gives fresh powerful shoots throughout the growing season and produce lovely leaves not just for the spring harvest but also for the later pickings.
Tea Garden For Morimoto Fancy Sencha
The Morimoto tea garden is set up not far from the town Miyazaki on the island of Kyushu.
Originally a very small garden some 40 years ago, the organic tea growing has evolved with the Morimoto’s ever since.
The tea garden is organic not for profit or marketing reasons but entirely because they consider it a valuable goal to cultivate natural tea in an environment of ecological equilibrium.
