Organic
tea from controlled organic cultivation
At Pure Tea we are convinced that the increasing demand for a better
way of life, more enjoyment and high quality food and drink are not
just short term trends. These are longer term goals for many people
and we believe we can contribute to healthy lifestyles with our organic
teas.
More and more consumers are seeking healthy foods creating increasing
demand for organic produce every day. Those consumers also desire a
better balance between agriculture and the environment, in order to
maintain a better and healthier life for themselves and their families.
So how can you recognize products from controlled organic cultivation?
Pure teas carry the “Bio label”. Only products cultivated
under strict EU Organic regulations can carry this logo. It is your
guarantee that Pure Teas are organic.

Every product carries a code number showing that organic foods comply
with the EU Organic Farming Regulation. In Germany, a code number with
the following system is used:
DE-000-Öko-Kontrollstelle
The first two letters of the code number indicate the member state of
the European Union that approved the inspection authority. In this example:
Germany (DE).
The three-digit figure is the reference number of the respective inspection
body, followed by the term "Öko-Kontrollstelle", inspection
body. Each inspection body has its own code which provides information
on the fact that the product was inspected and on the authority who
carried out the inspection. So, in case of doubt, it can be traced back
quickly and reliably where, for example, the ingredients of a product
come from.
Criteria for the Bio-Siegel
The Bio-Siegel is granted for compliance with the criteria of the EU
Organic Farming Regulation which, among other things, stipulates the
following prohibitions and requirements:
Prohibitions:
- Ban on irradiation of organic food
- Ban on genetically modified organisms
- Renouncement of crop protection with synthetic chemicals
- Renouncement of mineral fertilizers of low solubility
Requirements:
- Diversified wide crop rotations
- Land-related, appropriate livestock husbandry
- Organically produced feeding stuffs for feeding of livestock with
no antibiotics or growth promoters added
